It makes sense that their own brand of dub can rub alongside the ever constant flow of Jamaican influenced re-issues from this legendary London label. Alright, so I might not be the best person to gauge this sort of stuff these days, having fallen foul of the genre as whole. I blame the boredom I had to endure on countless club nights at London's Plastic People for that. But there still some core pleasure to be had from hearing competing basslines trying to attain the lowest frequency rating.

Decal: Burn From The Inside (Satamile) - 12" originally released August 2003

Dubliners Dennis McNulty and Alan O'Boyle released some interesting evocative electronica on a plethora of labels in the late nineties. Culminating in the excellent '404 Not Found' long player on Mike Paradinas' Planet Mu Records. At which point they decided to switch tack and focus on up-tempo electro. Most of their output followed a similar template; rapid fire analogue blips, razor-sharp drum machines, rasping synths and playful basslines. This was one of the first outings and still sounds urgent and dancefloor-effective as it did then.

My My: Butterflies & Zebras EP (Aus Music) - 12" originally released September 2006

Now I quite like what My My do. Its emotive dance music that kids who were brought up on a bad diet of northern techno and southern rave can appreciate. Thankfully lacking any of that rubbish soulful vocal nonsense that is a staple of the deep house genre (to which I think this belongs). The A-sides are pure sinuous electronic loveliness while the B-side throbs with a superior John Dahlback remix. This 12" is beautifully packaged too: clear vinyl wrapped up in smart graphics by Build (ex Designers Republic bloke).
